GWS conducts nationwide assessment of mobile networks and releases OneScore rankings
DULLES, VA – February 20, 2025 – Global Wireless Solutions (GWS) has conducted a performance evaluation of Canada’s national mobile networks and is announcing its OneScore rankings. After extensive review and assessment, GWS has determined that Bell has secured the top position for Best Overall Network and for Best 5G Network with Rogers and Telus coming in second and third respectively for each award.
The OneScore ranking methodology combines rigorous network testing with consumer insights to provide a comprehensive assessment of mobile networks. It integrates controlled scientific testing across major networks with consumer research, capturing user sentiment on key performance factors (i.e., factors that matter most to them). This approach creates a balanced evaluation that bridges technical metrics with real-world user experience, providing a balanced perspective on network quality.
Among other high-performing metrics, speed played a factor in Bell winning these two awards. In particular, when looking at the combined speed performance across downloads, uploads, latency, and video loading, Bell displayed a faster network than its competitors. This was the case when looking at the entire network, as well as when examining only the 5G performance. Bell had the top OneScores for Fastest Overall Network and Fastest 5G Network.
In addition, Bell’s superior network performance overall was due in part to improvements in reliability making for better and more stable connections to the network. Whether making a standard voice call, opening a web page, transferring a file, or watching a video, Bell showed fewer failures leading to a OneScore award for the Most Reliable Overall Network.

Background on how the nationwide evaluation was conducted
GWS conducted competitive benchmark testing of Canada’s national mobile networks between February and October 2024. In particular, just over 678,000 tests were conducted across Canada to evaluate the mobile network performance of Bell, Rogers, and Telus. All major metropolitan cities as well as less populated towns and cities were included in the testing; in total, representing 60% of Canada’s population. Testing was conducted using Rohde & Schwarz SmartBenchmarker test equipment, Samsung Galaxy mobile devices, and GWS MobiStat data evaluation and reporting platform.
In addition, GWS’ performance evaluation of Canada’s networks also factors in nationwide consumer survey results. Independent polling firm, Toluna, was commissioned by GWS to survey consumer behavior and expectations. The total sample size was 2,000 adults (ages 18 and older) with fieldwork undertaken during May 2024. The survey was carried out online. The figures were weighted and are representative of adult Canadians.
