GWS conducts performance assessment of mobile networks in the Greater Montréal Area and releases OneScore rankings

DULLES, VA – June 12, 2025 – Global Wireless Solutions (GWS) today announced the results of its comprehensive mobile network performance evaluation in the Greater Montréal Area involving Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron. Bell dominated the OneScore rankings (see below), capturing first place in all four major categories: Best Overall Network, Fastest Overall Network, Best 5G Network, and Fastest 5G Network.

GWS's OneScore ranking methodology provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating mobile network performance by integrating two key components: rigorous controlled scientific testing and in-depth consumer research. This approach combines technical network measurements with real-world user feedback to deliver an accurate assessment that reflects both performance capabilities and consumer expectations.

The methodology weighs network performance across critical categories such as data speed, coverage, video streaming quality, voice performance, and reliability based on consumer priorities determined through nationwide polling. By factoring in what matters most to users—rather than relying solely on technical metrics—OneScore creates an evaluation that bridges the gap between network capabilities and actual user experience, providing a realistic measure of how networks perform in daily consumer usage.

"Montréal's mobile networks are at the forefront of innovation in Canada, with all four operators investing in advanced technologies such as 5G SA, network slicing, and new antenna coverage solutions," said Dr. Paul Carter, GWS CEO. "Our testing shows that Bell has distinguished itself in this competitive landscape, delivering the superior network performance and advanced 5G capabilities that Montréal consumers demand."

Methodology – How the evaluation was conducted
During the month of May 2025, GWS conducted competitive benchmark testing of the four primary mobile networks serving the Greater Montréal Area. Over 112,000 tests were conducted across 2,400 kilometers of Montréal's roadways to evaluate the mobile network performance of Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron. Testing was conducted using Rohde & Schwarz SmartBenchmarker test equipment, Samsung Galaxy mobile devices, and GWS MobiStat data evaluation and reporting platform.

In addition, GWS' performance evaluation of Montréal’s networks also factors in consumer survey results. Independent polling firm, Toluna, was commissioned by GWS to survey consumer behavior and expectations. The total sample size was 2,000 adults (ages 18 and older) with fieldwork undertaken during May 2024. The survey was carried out online. The figures were weighted and are representative of adult Canadians.
